About this Event
Visit the Rose Avenue Education Farm with a walk-about the farm to see a combination of traditional Burmese farming techniques combined with the methods and techniques that the farmer participants have learned in the program. Finish up the tours with a cooking demonstration and tasting at 6:00pm featuring some of the interesting Asian vegetables grown on the farm.

For more information email Heartland.Community@yahoo.com or call (425) 213-7516.

Travel Tip: If the GPS tells you to turn down West Street, ignore it! The driveway is on the opposite side of the farm field on the East. Park in the lot at the back of the driveway. We hope Rose Avenue at Landin Rd will be open by Local Food Week, but just in case, it is best to enter from the west by Parrot Road off of Maplecrest Rd (between the river bridge and the railroad bridge) - Parrot Rd becomes Rose Ave at Hartzell Rd. Or come from the south at Hartzell Rd and turn East.

About Rose Avenue Education Farm
Rose Avenue Education Farm is a project of Heartland Communities, an economic development nonprofit serving Allen County to help create a local food economy.
Rose Avenue Farm hosts the Refugee Incubator Farm of Northeast Indiana, a business incubator for refugees who have a farming background and would like to begin farms in their new home.

On ten acres, the farmers each tend one-half to one acre and grow a variety of culturally specific vegetables to meet an unmet demand, as well as more traditional vegetables you would expect to find in an American farmer’s market.

Technical assistance and training opportunities are scheduled throughout the year for farmer participants on topics such as production techniques, on-farm food safety, farm finance and business development. Rose Avenue Farm and related markets are managed by project partner Plowshares Cooperative Food Hub.
