About this Event
Many people are interested in learning how to do vegetable fermentation at home. Participants in this workshop will increase their knowledge about fermentation by learning some basic techniques. We will prepare and taste a few different vegetables from local farms, to give you a better grasp on the activities happening in the jar! Having more information about vegetable fermentation, as a whole, can lead into exciting territory for the home culinary microbiologist!

About Beyond Able Commissary Kitchen
Beyond Able Commissary Kitchen is a commercial kitchen with 24/7 access created to offer small food entrepreneurs an opportunity to grow their businesses as well as provide training to help them understand the skills and knowledge needed to gain success. Along with these benefits, Beyond Able Commissary Kitchen offers a support network for enterprising chefs; our staff will be available to provide kitchen members with support for different stages of product development!

Beyond Able is a Fort Wayne–based nonprofit organization that develops innovative programs offering career training and mentorship to disadvantaged young adults in our community. Our programs explore new, ever-evolving ways to engage and positively impact our students while helping them build and translate their skills toward personal, community and economic success. Through our programs, disadvantaged youth will develop the “soft skills”—such as resiliency, perseverance, time management, teamwork and creativity—that underpin success in school as well as in life and work. We produce Windrose Exchange products, highlighting fermentation and ready-to-eat foods. You can find us at YLNI Farmers Market year-round every Saturday!
