Event Details

Join us on a walking tour of our bison ranch! We will follow along the windbreak we’ve created to see the pastures and the animals. Along the way, we will discuss how we converted the fields that used to grow corn and soybeans to lush pastures for our bison. Our walking distance will be about one mile. If walking that distance doesn’t work for some guests, they are welcome to wait in our barn.

Our tour will show how our unique handling system is used to sort the animals. Just a walk thru only, no animals will be moved thru the system, as it would be too stressful for them. Visitors will have time to come in the barn or sit outside, (depending on the weather) to enjoy samples of Bison Chili or Bison Burgers, or Bison Sliders. look at some local art work, and We will open it up for a Q&A session and visitors can enjoy local artwork. Bison meat will also be available.

Pre-registration required

Eel River Bison Ranch and Event Center

Eel River Bison Ranch and Event Center is located in South Whitley, Indiana. Our mission is to restore our grounds and soils to raise the most healthy bison possible. We enjoy what bison bring to our community and the ecosystem. Our business started in January 2015, and we raise, breed and sell grass fed bison. We sell for meat and we sell our animals live to other ranchers just getting started or who would like a different blood line in their herd. We raise our animals on 30 acres of pasture. We rent our barn for business events, weddings, reunions. graduations and more.

TRAVEL TIP: Some map apps will bring you on to the wrong location along Hwy 14 near the cemetery and Whitko High School. We are located on the other side of the Eel River. If this happens, you will need to drive thru the town of South Whitley, cross the river and come to West River Road.
