Event Details

Join us for a celebration of the social ecologies cascading from Wood Farm’s feed & food.

Participants:  Wood Farms & the Wood Smoked Food Truck, Bravas, Wallflower Cold Brew,  Hop River Brewing Co., Dick's Organics, Southwest Honey Co., Hontz Farm, Sankofa and  Dirt Wain,

This event features farms, restaurants, a mobile coffee shop, a composter, and an entertainer, trying to close local waste loops. Wood Farms, with the help of Dick's Organics, has created a social-ecosystem of responsible food consumption and waste mitigation, turning many waste items into nutrient flows for further healthy food production. There will be the food trucks of businesses that serve meat raised at Wood Farms, in addition to beer vended by Hop River and coffee by Wallflower Cold Brew.

Dennis Wood will speak about Wood Farms’ full-circle approach to beef production, Paris McFarthing will speak about beer drinking and community building, and local rapper Sankofa will perform. Visitors will be able to see the Dirt Wain compost site, the massive hay bales stored at the farm, hay fields that will still be producing, and hogs the farm raises.

Wood Farms

Wood Farms raises premium Angus beef and Berkshire pork the way discriminating Hoosiers demand. We raise restaurant quality products without the stuff you don’t want in your food.

Wood Farms Angus cattle are raised on Certified Organic pastures and finished on Certified Organic hay and non-GMO grains.

Wood Farms produces 1,000 acres of Certified Organic alfalfa hay. We supply feed to small, family owned, organic dairy farms across the Eastern United States.

Dirt Wain

We offer food scrap and yard waste composting for households and businesses in the greater Fort Wayne area. We are committed to community-scale composting—which means finding solutions that meet various communities’ needs.

We keep food scraps out of the landfill where they become methane gas—an accelerant contributing to climate breakdown. Composting reclaims nutrients and puts them back in circulation in the communities where food scraps are generated.

We offer individual, business, and community subscriptions for food scrap pick up and drop off.
