Event details:
Come learn the history of Johnnie Mae Farm and learn how we grow produce for the community in the middle of the Renaissance Pointe neighborhood. We will explain our unique growing beds, discuss the challenges of urban farming, highlight the upgrades to old firehouse #9, and get a taste of some fresh herbs.

Urban Farm Tour will take place rain or shine, but not all areas may be accessible in the rain.

Johnnie Mae Farm
Johnnie Mae Farm provides fresh vegetables to the residents of Renaissance Pointe and the surrounding neighborhoods on Fort Wayne's southeast side. The property boasts a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen and three-quarters of an acre of farm in the back. All produce is grown using a responsible land ethic and organic practices.

A variety of fresh produce grown on-site is available through the Pontiac Street Market. Possible items for purchase include collard and mustard greens, okra, herbs, radishes, tomatoes, zucchini, purple hull peas, peppers, broccoli, cabbage, and cucumbers.

Johnnie Mae Farm is operated in partnership between the City of Fort Wayne and Purdue Extension - Allen County to help provide both fresh produce and education on nutrition and gardening. The farm is named after long-time neighborhood advocate Johnnie Mae White, a woman of great courage, strong faith, and a belief in helping others. Johnnie Mae was a true servant leader who dedicated herself to the service of others and enriching their lives as she supported the needs of the community.
