This event is for everyone! Come and visit The School of Education Urban Garden at Purdue Fort Wayne! Take a tour of our garden and learn about the many ways in which the garden has served as a hub for community engagement, a teaching space for college students and children, and partnered with the Friends of the Pantry at Purdue Fort Wayne to help address food security. Have fun and paint a rock to leave at the garden or take it home to your own garden. This is a child and family friendly event.

Both the Master Gardener Display Gardens of Allen County and the School of Education Urban Garden are located on the grounds of the Allen County Purdue Extension office on the Purdue Fort Wayne campus.

Purdue University Fort Wayne School of Education Urban Garden
The School of Education Urban Garden was founded in 2019 as a demonstration and teaching garden for students, faculty, and staff at Purdue Fort Wayne. Since its beginning, the project has hosted elementary age children for gardening activities and tours, held a farm to fork dinner at student housing, provided fresh produce to the food pantry on campus, and been involved in a number of other community events and activities. 

The FRIENDS of the University Pantry at Purdue Fort Wayne is stocked with a variety of packaged and canned foods and helps food-insecure members of both the university – including students, staff, and faculty – and the community.

The River Farm
The River Farm is a diversified family farm in Wells County. We grow seasonal organic veggies, pastured livestock and culinary mushrooms (debuting fall 2024). Our land stewardship and day to day management prioritizes soil regeneration, species diversity, grass-fed/pastured livestock and the general principle that we as humans are a reciprocal part of nature and not separate from it.

This is a family oriented guided tour explaining the process of making maple syrup and other maple products. Maple syrup and a variety of maple products will be available for purchase. Cash or credit card.

Maple Acres signs are located on Baseline Road & South 500 and at the end of the drive.

Maple Acres is a 5th generation maple syrup producer located in southeastern Noble County near Chain-o-Lakes State Park. We have about 2,000 trees in production making roughly 500 +/ - gallons of syrup per season. The 100% all natural syrup is organically produced in the state-of-the-art facility on the Owen homestead. Using our maple syrup, we make value added products including pure maple cream, maple sugar, traditional maple leaf candies and maple chocolates.

We are members of Indiana Grown, Indiana Maple Syrup Association and Indiana Market Maker.

Learn about how important pollinators are to our food system and see honeybees at work in an on-site Observation Bee Hive! The summer/fall theme is "Raise a Glass!" celebrating 40 years for the Conservatory.

The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory is an oasis in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne providing a unique attraction that is always in season.
