At Hontz Farm, we follow Organic farming practices. We use no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or any non-organic products. When necessary, we use natural, organic, or eco-friendly practices to combat pests. This looks like spraying Kaolin Clay (a natural and organic clay that can be used on as a spray), neem oil (an oil from a tree that discourages squash bugs, beetles, and other pests), and BT (an organic product derived from marigold's), on our veggies. Often, we just pick pests off by hand.
We are opening our blueberry orchard for limited and scheduled U-Pick times. Contact Hilary Armstrong to see if there might be a time that works to come pick berries for yourself. The orchard is far away from water and shade, so bringing your own water bottles, plenty of sun-screen, and bug spray.
