Located just outside of downtown Fort Wayne, our 1/3 acre lot supports a variety of both annual and perennial fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Over the last five years we have been transforming our neighborhood lot from a typical lawn with ornamental landscaping into a growing operation that is inspired by both SPIN agriculture and permaculture methods.

Cover crops and a variety of composted materials (mushroom compost, worm castings, organic straw, food waste compost) are being used to build the soil structure. We rely heavily on companion planting and integrated pest management, using a variety of annual and perennial flowering plants to attract beneficial insects and pollinators into our space. Ornamental plants, primarily native species, are chosen for their ability to encourage a more diverse, layered, and resilient ecosystem.

Our growing space has been certified with the National Wildlife Federation and the Grow Indiana Natives Program. Plant Happiness is an Indiana Grown member.
